The 2009 Prescot Festival of Music & the Arts
is now over
This year's guest star is actor Peter Sallis, best-loved as Clegg in the classic BBC sitcom Last of the Summer Wine and as the voice of Wallace in the animated series Wallace & Gromit. We're delighted to be bringing back some old favourites, including Fairey Band, COMA North West and the Birkenhead Operatic Society. But there's new faces around, too, and this year Whiston singer-songwriter Rachael Dunn is on board with an acoustic night featuring the best of Mersey musical talent. Other highlights include a special screening of The Wizard of Oz (with a prize for the best costume), a come-and-sing performance of Handel's Messiah and a jazz finale from Dr Jazz & the Cheshire Cats. Come and join us! A highlight of this year's Festival is the world premiere of a new piece of classical music commissioned for the Prescot Festival by Mr. Norman Williams from local composer Kevin George Brown.
