As Assistant Director of
the Prescot Festival (2005 to 2009), I pioneered a thriving community
arts festival alongside Artistic Director
Dr Robert Howard, building it
up from a short concert series to a successful, 10-day annual music and
culture event.
In 2007 to 2009, I was at
the forefront of grassroots efforts to support Shakespeare North, a bid
to commemorate the North West's Shakespearean heritage by building an
Elizabethan theatre and arts centre in the town of Prescot. As Media
Officer for Friends of Shakespeare North, I worked with academic
Rosemary Tyler and National Theatre director David Thacker on the
project.
In 2008 I joined Knowsley
Council to coordinate a community choir to work on a large-scale musical
project with composer Bill Connor.
I have worked with
community groups, schools, churches, local government and voluntary
bodies, as well as dozens of professional artists and performers from
every aspect of arts, music and entertainment, including Korean pianist
Young-Choon Park, singer-songwriter John Smith, film and stage actors
Peter Sallis and Honor Blackman, Fairey Band, orchestra St. Helens
Sinfonietta and contemporary ensemble COMA North West.
My arts experience has
included media and press relations, artistic programming,
administration, liaison with community groups and artists, publication
design (print and web), event management and fundraising.
