Poor Hammer psychological thriller that begins promisingly, and then loses all atmosphere. Jimmy Sangster, at his best as producer (Taste of Fear, The Nanny) and scriptwriter (The Curse of Frankenstein, Dracula), simply failed at direction (Lust for a Vampire, The Horror of Frankenstein). Even Peter Cushing, in a fairly small part, fails to save it.
