Francis Matthews
Actor
b. 1927A familiar face in British horror, Francis Matthews's first role for Hammer was as the Baron's assistant in The Revenge of Frankenstein (1958). He later played leading roles in Dracula, Prince of Darkness (pictured) and Rasputin, the Mad Monk, made back-to-back (and on virtually identical sets!) in 1965.
He played opposite Boris Karloff in the non-Hammer Corridors of Blood (1958), a film also notable for an appearance by Christopher Lee.
His voice can be heard as that of Captain Scarlet in the sixties' puppet series of the same name, the creation of Gerry Anderson (Thunderbirds).
He continues to make frequent TV and stage appearances.
