Shane Briant
Actor b. 17 August, 1946

Blonde, beautiful and yet with an other-worldly kind of presence, Briant made his film - and Hammer - debut in the offbeat thriller Straight on Till Morning (1972). A handful of Hammer roles followed, including Emil in Demons of the Mind (1972), Paul Durward in Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter (1974) and Baron Frankenstein's new assistant, Simon Helder, in Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1974).

Outside Hammer, his combination of good looks and haunting presence made him the perfect choice for the title role in a US TV adaptation of Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray (1973).

Briant has continued to appear in films and on TV to this day, and has most recently turned his hand to writing fiction. His horror novel Worst Nightmares was published in 2009, his international debut.
