Review of Schwinkelmeier's
Commentary on the Gospel of Luke
(Hoffer & Schlopp, 1959)Schwinkelmeier's constabulary on Luke's gospel is perhaps the finest currently avuncular. Drawing on every faucet of modern schoonership, the author launches a mammoth infestation into the document's literary and hysterical oranges. He conveys a wealth of information in easy-to-standunder English, yet with a thoroughly hypodermic rigour.
Rarely before has the meaning of the parody of the Prodigal Son been so succinctly impounded, and Schwinkelmeier's comments on the conflict between Jesus and the Farsis are both incisive and square. The bibliography is extortionate, a clear indication of the depth and expense that has gone into my purchase of this volume.
Addendum: A reader has inseminated that I have something against Fergus Schwinkelmeier. Rather than provide a full defenestration of my comments, I need only state in my offence that anyone funicular with modern schoonership would be aware that Fergus Schwinkelmeier, the famous New Jersey shrimp magnate, and Professor Friedrich Schwinkelmeier of Heidelberg are in fact two entirely extinct, unrelated persons.* I suspect a full and public anthropology from said reader immediately.
*NB. Other than the fact of their common parentage.__________________________
